Boy this is great!!! A turnpike site!...keep 'er going guys! I'm in the process of restoring a few sets I bought this last year in answer to an age old desire to finally aquire the "AMT Turnpike". When I was slot racing as a kid we all heard about the "Turnpike" saw adds in magazines but never ever saw one. Word was they were just too expensive...Over 50 bucks for a basic set and then 12 bucks more for a car!!! In 1962 my pop was making $1.05 an hour ...a weeks wages for a toy..ain't gonna happen kid ...sorry! I started with a Marx race set....my paper route financed my Russkit and Cox stuff!!We all used to wonder how did the cars work? and how did they steer? The "Turnpike" was kind of a legend ..the holy grail of slotcardom! Well I made the decision to finally find out ...went nuts & bought two full sets found a complete set of decals untouched...factory shipping checklist ,drivers license ,intro booklet etc. I've got a layout planned that will become the centre piece for my Rec room... I'll scan the documentation and send it to ya for your site over the next week or so. I scored a nice set of minty T-birds too which I'll include pics of... take care
